Another Benefit of Missionary Travel… Friends for Life

MISSIONARY TRAVEL

As I think back on this year (and years past) and the various mission trips and missionary travel I’ve taken, one thing that stands out in my mind is the incredible people we’ve met. If you’ve been on any mission trip at all, you can likely relate. I am often awestruck and humbled by the selfless love these former strangers have for us within moments of meeting us.

I remember the family in Mexico who welcomed us into their home and fed us the only meat they had.  Our missions team truly feasted and talked and laughed in that sparsely furnished dirt-floored home. Their smiles were huge. It did not matter that we spoke different languages, God’s love is a language we all understand.

This exact scenario repeated itself with different faces, same spirit, in Africa, Europe, and anywhere we went to share God’s love, it seems we would receive much more of it from the locals.

What are some of the raw, human experiences you’ve encountered in your missions? How are you looking back on this past year on your success with missionary travel and planning for next year’s missions?
